National Lottery Funding Boost

Back in July 2020 we received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund after highlighting our work to them. This, along with the incredible support we received from community, supermarkets and local businesses, enabled us to support families and individuals struggling due to the COVID-19 crisis.

We supported over 4,000 families and individuals with a food parcel in 2020 and our volunteers delivered 4,770 hot meals through our Friday night ‘Fish & Chip’ initiative which we launched after receiving this funding.

Following a new application we are pleased to confirm that we have been awarded additional funding from The National Lottery to help support our work in the local community.

We would like to thank The National Lottery Community Fund for recognising the hard work and dedication our volunteers put in to bringing hope to many families across the borough.

Wishlist donations rolling in!

Let’s be honest – you guys never let us down!!

We recently set up an Amazon Wishlist for anyone wanting to purchase items for us. These items will be used to benefit so many families, as we are currently spending £400 a month on nappies and baby milk alone.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to us via Amazon so far. The deliveries have been arriving steadily, but unfortunately they don’t tell us who they’re from so we can’t thank you individually!

If you would like to donate to our Wishlist, please follow this link.

A call for support

With the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic we are spending a significant amount of money on buying items for our food parcels to help support some of the most needy within the community.

So we are asking our supporters to please reach out to family, friends, local businesses and other contacts to see if they can provide items from our list in order to help us meet demand at this hectic time.

We require the following donations and would please urge you to consider supporting us during your daily travels and weekly food shops:

Thank you Sita!

With Sita’s kind support, our chef Shelina served up a delicious haddock in parsley sauce with vegetables with roasted meat free fillets available for our vegetarians.

For desert, our chef Stacey served up a wonderful sprinkle cake (pictured).

As always, we could never do this without your donations and the support of our volunteers. Thank you all for making it another happy Sunday for the most isolated in our community.

Toy Appeal is Festive Success!

Steve has worked closely with our project lead Maz Surti to run the toy appeal throughout December, generating an an incredible amount of support from Steve’s football friends, our Facebook followers and the local community.

We are delighted to announce that we have received 600 gifts all new and wrapped. Our volunteers have been out on the road since Monday delivering some of these gifts. We’ve donated toys to St Gabriel’s Church which will be given to Acorns and distributed gifts to hostels, women’s centres, councils and other community groups.

A huge thank you to Steve, Maz and all those that have supported our appeal, including the many volunteers that have given up their time to make it a special Christmas for many families during these difficult times.

Christmas Meals Update

Rob and his team have raised a whopping £1,134 for our Christmas lunches appeal.

The WSA appeal began three weeks ago on Twitter and passed an initial target of £300 within hours, thanks largely to donations from supporters of Walsall Football Club.

The money raised will be used to provide 40 Christmas meals to the elderly and vulnerable on Christmas day, 80 lunches on Bank Holiday Monday to families in need, 15 lunches for the elderly on Sunday and will cover the cost of our food parcels for an entire week!

What a fantastic gesture from Rob and his group to raise these funds on our behalf. We are truly blown away!

Potato for Peggy!

Peggy lives alone with only her dog as company. We asked her what she would like for her Sunday lunch and she told us she would love nothing more than a simple Jacket Potato!

Peggy was absolutely delighted to receive her lunch today as she told us she was fed up of being isolated and alone. We had made her day by visiting her with her simple request.

You can sponsor one of our lunches for as little as £20.
